Apple helped to promote the mouse, but they did not invent it. Its creator was Douglas Englebart in the 1960s (64/68), and the patent came on the 17 of November, 1970 - " X-Y Position Indicator For A Display System"

IBM invented the mouse, but they thought it was impractical and gave the entire project away.

As for Microsoft, what will be next? The drag and drop?

haha I'm watching Anti-Trust in my computer sciences class and this is exactly the same **** as is in that movie...it's so true and I have watched it happen my whole life. I'm gonna patent "putting one foot in front of the other" so people either have to crawl or skip...or they have to pay me for the right to walk....Muahahaha

I was just about to post that Its in my Guinness World Records book.

So this means that any system which uses the double click will have to pay royalty fees(if microsoft chooses them to do so.)Maybe they'll play nice and let the other Os'es keep the double click without royalties, but for some reason,I doubt it.

So whats whe worst case scenerio for apple/linux?
I assume it would be for microsoft TO CHARGE royalties to each individual linux/mac build.

Starting at the earliest build and calculating the current number of users and their average number of double clicks a year. Then charging several cents for each one...

That would come to millions i would assume.
