That's a really nice silver case, it looks a bit like a Lian Li.

New components arrived.

G.Skill 6GB -DDR3 1333 - 9-9-9-24
Asus EAH3450

---

Very excited about the memory, but the only reason I have the crappy video card is that it was $19 with MIR from newegg.com and I needed any PCI Express video card to finally power this thing on.

A portion of my tax rebate is going to go towards a GTX285. Waiting sucks though.

I'm still working on getting the timings and mhz correct on the RAM. It showed up as 8-8-8 in the BIOS and that could cause problems.

I had a problem with my DDR 1600 G.Skill 6 GB. Vista 64-bit to this day still says 4gb . Idon't know what the problem could be. Let me know if you have the same issue. My specs are nearly the same as yours.

Well, at the moment I'm running Windows 7 beta and I don't have any problems. It took a Bios update from F3 to F5 in order for the memory specs to be identified correctly, but I've always had 6GB.

I'm getting pretty excited, the rest of the parts to my build are coming in this week.

First off, EVGA GTX 285 and WD Caviar Black 640GiB from newegg, then TRUE w/1366 kit + two Scythe Ultra Kaze 2000 rpm fans and brackets. I also ordered the lapping kit, saves me a trip to the local ACE, for $10.99 it will be interesting to see what I get. I'm a bit nervous about lapping, there are so many guides out there and so many different methods. Same with applying TIM.

Will post pics!

Got my GTX 285 yesterday, here are some pics, going to work on benchmarks and stuff next. My TRUE with fans is supposed to be here tomorrow...

Onto the good stuff, going for a couple weeks with a new i7 cpu, case, memory was hard! Now that my GTX 285 and WD Caviar Black 640 GB drive are here, the fun begins!

- Here's the EVGA GTX 285, pretty uninspiring packaging

- EVGA's accessory pack, honestly, I haven't even looked at them yet

- GTX 285 in the case, power attached!

- Back side of the case cable management. This is going to go all to hell when my TRUE arrives... blaH!

So I got my TRUE, I lapped it (I don't think I did a good job), installed it with two fans in push/pull, replaced a rear fan with a big 2000 RPM Scythe Ultra. It was too thick, I didn't notice that at first, I took the Scythe out of the hard drive cooling bracket, used that for the TRUE, then put this (thicker) Scythe on the read exhaust next to the TRU... oh, then I've OC'd it and ran some before/after benchmarks, it was fun!

Here we go with the new toys and lapping progress (first time I've tried this).

- TRUE 1366, extra fan, fan mount, AS5, lapping kit from frozencpu.com

- Before lapping

- My lapping setup

- After 30 minutes on conf. call and lapping, I spent a little more time then just threw it in, I didn't get all of the nickel coating off of it.

I need a final pic of the rig, am working on that after some benchmarking and maybe a bit of time playing.
