Discuss Future Plans For Your Audio Rig - Page 19

I'm toying with getting a hifi, and to keep things simple and save a fer of the old £££ have been looking at some of the system bundles, although I might have a peek at some second hand stock at some local hifi places. I'm quite interested in either http://www.superfi.co.uk/index.cfm/p...roduct_ID/3856 or system 3 on this page: http://www.richersounds.com/information/hifisystems . The ipod dock is irrelevant to me; it's basically a case of NAD vs Cambridge audio (Slightly more expensive). What do people think?

not too familiar with the speakers, but I'd get the setup with the better speakers as that will have the most impact on the sound.

Planning to get Behringer HA400 to go with HiRes 90K with Harmony HiResolution and Phonak Supero
post #184 of 331
finished my mini3 last night . as stated you all are a bad influence

unfortunately at 3am in between bouts of partial unconciousness and soldering fumes i didn't quite realize i'd put the battery contacts in the wrong places . at least i was too tired to charge it overnight.

anyway got the contacts around the right way and it's charging happily.

now to figure out what my next little audio-DIY project will be...

maybe i should pick up a new ipod LOD and/or a better pair of headphones first

Congrats on the Mini3!

A Millet "Starving Student" might be a good place to start for your next DIY project. That or headphones + recable/tuning.

The Tannoy F1's get great appraisal as bargain speakers, supposed to be great for the £99 price tag. They don't have the best bass apparently. You could go along to Richers or SuperFi and ask for some demo's, both will be happy to let you have a listen to some gear.

The 340SE amp also has some great reviews, I heard a few of the amps higher up the range and I was quite impressed (but they were with £300 speakers)

Going into the stores and having a listen is the best bet, you should be able to haggle with the guys at Richers, try and get some speaker cable thrown into the deal

_____

Back on topic of the thread;

I'm holding off any big upgrades to my system, the idea of the MiniMAX and the HD600 has been scrapped until my money situation improves, It'l be a while before I do anything to my speakes/amp either - I did buy some sand for the stands yesterday though

In the short term, I plan on buying a Westone cable for my UE SuperFi 3's and a Fiio E5.

Well, the only part I really need to contemplate about my setup is what amp to get. I will be getting sennheiser hd600s(good price and I really care about highs more than bass). I was really interested in the Tianyun Zero amp/dac, however with the inputs it has, I don't think it would work out in my best interests. I will probably get like a little dot mk2 or something. As far as sources, I need to replace my 30gb ipod with the 120gb or whatever new version will come out(headphone jack is busted on my 30gb so it's just a dedicated source for my car), I will also try to get some sub-100 dollar cd player though my CD collection won't be growing for a few years. And I also have a decent amount of vinyl and plan to purchase more, and it seems someone from my work was considering trashing their pioneer turntable, so if her husband hasn't thrown it away yet, i'll grab that and replace the broken cartridge.

would you consider those lists of amps better/worse/equal to a little dot mkii or a darkvoice 336?
