You wouldn't dare! I love Allen&Heath! The iLives are so nice! What kind of array setup have you got?

Line array's are one of the coolest things ever.

I currently dont have the array my timeline is 1 yr for the purchase me and my father also promote shows so im looking at doing something big next summer. (Green day in a 60,000 seat venue) that would pay for my jbls. Right now i have a decent stack system and some folded gear. But if we want to compeate with the big guys we need an array. Currently thinking a JBL Vertek system with there fullsize stuff and there double 18s with ultra long excursion drivers. Probably Crown power. Im hoping to pull off a big show and pay for it. Next summer will be my first year out of high school so it would be awesome to have a huge payday right out of high school.

So do you have an ilive or just used one?

A second Rythmik F12 subwoofer and a Denon AVR-5805 receiver (more power!). Although the Yamaha Z11 is good enough for now.

I mean pick up some A2s for computer speakers. The reason A2s instead of A5s is so I can get them Colorwared.

i just recently inherited a vintage 1950's tube amp stero, its the size of a dresser, and looks similar to this one
JanJumpstart.jpg
the speakers in the current one are shot, and i need to refinish some of it, but from the stories my dad told me of this thing 50 years ago i think it has some real potential

So my question is:
A: does anyone have experience with this sort of thing and any tips
B: what kind of drivers should i get for this thing when i redo it within the next year
C: can I interface a xonar dx with this somehow without compromising the tube amp or turntable

What drivers were in it? JBL made cabinets that looked similar to this and would be a good alternative to what was in it. As for the tube amp i would not know how you would get a decent signal in maybe jack the phono from the turntable and add a switch.

if you don't know what you're looking at I suggest you take it to a professional who can refurb the amp and speakers.

its labeled a Pavanne Stereophonic and has a Garrard record changer and turntable, do you know any reputable proffesionals who can do this in the DC area? If not I am confident i could refurbish it, after all it is in good condition save the speakers and a single water ring, the amp does need tubes replaced, but has no damage otherwise.

Dunno if this qualifies as an "audio rig" but i'm going to get a better sound card. Originally I got some cheap 30€ sound card, mainly because onboard audio had some noticable noise. Now I'm thinking about getting a better sound card, to go with my new m50s. Any suggestions for a sound card in the 50-100€ range?

I need some help deciding on a couple things first...

Q1:Should I get the Audio-Technica ATH-M50s or the Audio-Technica ATH-M50? I know the s stands for straight cable and the original has a coiled cable (the straight is for stretching across a room and the coiled is for things close to you) but some people say the straight cable is better in terms of sound.

Q2:Sound card or external DAC? I was introduced to the external DAC a couple days ago and I was wondering, should I get an external DAC over a sound card (I looked at Head-Fi.org and they thought the Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1 was best)?

These are all the products I'm choosing from in my questions...

-Asus Xonar Essence STX (I heard it's the second best, right next to its older brother, the PCI version)
-Maverick Audio TubeMagic D1
-Audio-Technica ATH-M50s
-Audio-Technica ATH-M50

Thanks guys! My first question on Overclock.net (new member)!
