the AD700s are very nice headphones, and are comparable in price range and acoustics to the HD555s I loved them both, but upgraded my HD555s to HD650s still have my AD700s though, they're my cans for work

AD means they are open as a opposed to closed (A).
Depends really- the AD's have more soundstage, but the A's have better Bass.
The A's also keep the sound in and isolate better.

I am really stuck in deciding which headphones to buy....

I need something better then what I have right now.

Right now, I was thinking of either the HD650's or A700's....

I listen to mostly trance when I am wearing them and I leave my classical for my awesome home audio sound system (analog sounds so vintage).

Thanks!

If you want to save money, and have decent un-amped sound- go with the A700s.

But, if you want better sound, and are willing to shell out a little extra cash for an amp,dac and recable, you will be simply amazed.

It's really up to you, and if you think omg its going to be so expensive and complicated.. it really isn't. You could get a Zero DAC/AMP (Combo of both) to save money and get 2 for 1 type of thing.

And the recable can be done at a later time when you want to upgrade to it.

The good thing about the HD650s is that there is a lot you can do to make them better, contrary to the A700s where even amping them won't do much.

I forgot to mention that I already have an amp

Using it on my HD515's which don't even need an amp

Well... It looks like they are all sold out

I could wait, but I need some new cans ASAP

I might settle for the HD595.... I have always wanted a pair of those.

MO, look for a pair of HD580's or HD600's. I prefer them to the HD650, which is not necessarily a better headphone, just a different flavoring.
