Well.... im getting crappy OC at 1.35v... was wondering if I was hitting OCP.

Im benching single card- you're safe

Cheers!

If the card is tripping to a lower voltage, that's OCP.

Are you on air or water? What are your temps?

Watercooling, loading at ~30. Ummmmmm cant gather more numbers today, have a review to get done on another board. Well..... but I like playing with GPUs

Most important thing though... are the points I marked correct for OCP? I *think* they are, but I dont wanna kill more GPUs

I don't think modding those resistors will help any. If you are tripping OC,P VID mod is the way around it. If you wont, you can try putting a resistor on the RT pin. It's regulates switching freq.

Thread res!

I have a non-ref 9600GT but a *similar* layout and a different controller.

Do the opens and shorts in rows two and three affect VID? My card has a different "code."

100_1222.jpg

The resistors also have component numbers on my card.

Top line: (same line of components as used for the VID mods on the ref PCB)

R561. Open by default, shorting it adds 0.05v

R566 & R570 are shorted.

R587 is open and shorting it gives me 0v when the boot voltage becomes the VID-based voltage.

Any input welcome smile.gif

Cheers!

Guessing those are all vid resistors. One set of 7 for 2d voltage and one set of 7 for 3d clocks when you changed 587 you must have lowered 3d clocks too low and uvp kicked in. Your gunna have to try and figure out which are which. If im right and thats the case your gunna want to edit the bios to make 2d and 3d the same vid.

Been out for a few days. You said different controller, which controller?

Also, can you get some pics of your card?

Hey biggrin.gif It's along the lines of this: http://s2.photobucket.com/albums/y38/K404/?action=view&current=DSCF0470.jpg The text on the surface is very faint and the surrounding components aren't laid out the same. I have one point reading 6.5KOhm and a couple around the 1.5K mark. Can take pics in the morning. I actually glued on a couple trimmers to test in the morning. I figured... "What's the worst that can happen" LOL At least these PWM controllers don't have 0.05v OVP.....

I've seen one of these before. Just can't remember which card it was and what thread to point you towards... I do know that a FB mod was found for it. Try working your way around the IC with a pencil instead of trying to figure out VID w/o a datasheet.
