ok. sorry it tok so long. here is front a close up picture of that IC. plus as for the resitance/voltage testing i am yet to find my multimeter. so im working on those ones.

thanks all =D

Okay, once you find your DMM locate a ground pin (PCIe connector is always a good spot) and measure resistance from the marked pin on that IC to ground. Tell us what you get.

Also, to make life easier, look for continuity (99% conductivity at least) between a point on a SMD something within the box, if you can see it.

Some of those may be invalid choices for one reason or another, but I don't really know anything (CL3P20? ) about that, and it could help find a better solder point.

Edit: I'm a fool and didn't attach my pic. I swear I made it before Pizza posted

Here's the pin marked for you. I also marked the area you need to test for continuity. From the look I think the one of the two empty pads at the top will be connected.

lol ok finally found myDMM only to find out it doesnt work anymore =[ so i found another little one for now and have tested the rear IC resistance, and front IC resistance and the voltages on those spots on the back. As for continuity my little DMM doesnt do it, so im gonna have to find yet another one. =[
here are the ones i got.
VGPU - APW7088 160 @ 20kohm
VMEM - APW7067N 799 @ 20K ohm
and for those voltage points i marked them 1 through 7 and marked them on the pic.
1. 205 @ 20v

4. 379-380 @ 20v

Try useing the 200K selection and testing for continuity. The DMM should read -0.00 when you have a solid connection.

As for your voltage readings, did you test it while it was running?

No other way around. I think he may have measured resistance on the voltage points while the card was out. It's the only thing I can think of for the readings he posted.

lol no no deffinatly measured the correct area's while the card was in....possibly could there be a decimal point in there somwhere cause i dont think its working on my DMM. (eg. 2.05v or 3.8v) and i tested for conintuaity and got 0.00 for the one of the little points and for the other i got 0.16 but without the decimal...im just guessing those decimal points were there lol.

anyone still around this thread?? =P been a while so just thought i;d ask

the wires came unglued so i went to try and pick off the old hot glue on the wires and this broke two of the solder joints. so going to re-solder the one at vgpu and gave it a tug to make sure it was on and ripped off the pad, and then it went downhill from there, the surface mount capacitor also desoldered off and ripped off its pad now the gpu is in the garbage, at least i can keep the ramsinks by ripping them off.
can someone suggest a good replacement ?

That sucks man. I'm not to keen on hot glue. Liquid electrical tape comes off nice and clean with minimal effort.
