4870 1GB, bad FPS in UT3?

Anyone having issues with their 4870 1GB and UT3?

Running on max in game settings and 8x aa and 16x af through CCC @ 1920x1200. Typically I'll get 85-160 FPS on most maps, even when things get intense. But then all of a sudden same map, mass FPS drop, getting like 34-74 FPS. I'm thinking its the drivers, but I properly uninstalled 8.11's, then installed 8.12's (safe mode, ran driver sweeper multiple times, blah, blah...). I've also noticed no difference in 8x aa w/ 24 edge detect and standard 8x box.....so again drivers issues?

Its the hard drive. When you transition in a new area it will drop because your drive has to load new textures to your memory and then from there to you v memory. If you wait a little bit the fps should shoot back up. Either way, when your lowest dip is 34fps visually you will have a hard time knowing the difference.

To remove virtual memory and use only your RAM: control panel > system > advanced system settings > advanced*> Performance settings: Put virtual memory page file to 0.

So youre saying if you have a good amount of ram then setting your page file to 0 would give you optimal performance?

Not really, no, eliminating the virtual memory does nothing really for system performance. I believe in XP you can force not paging files but in vista if you set it to zero it will just create one anyways. Both operating systems will use your memory first before the hard drive, so if you have adequate RAM you have adequate RAM.

Its def not the hardrive. Same settings, same map etc...I reboot and its back to normal 100-165 on smaller maps, 85 - 160 on bigger ones. It won't go from those FPS, down to 34-75 then back up....it will stay there if it touch any settings in CCC. Also it doesn't seem like AA is even working. So its the drivers since it seems like no one else is having the same issues.
