Need a little help getting 2 4870X2's to work on Rampage Formula.

Well while my buddies Rampage II Extreme is RMA'ed for a bad PCI-E 16x Slot, I thought I might as well pair up his X2 to mine and give it a whirl in my comp. Sadly once I did this I got that error in windows that says the card has been disabled because the there is no device driver for it or some nonsense. In device manager it disables 1 of the 4 X2's in the list (i know 1 of them is the primary while the other would be for another monitor.) I tried reinstalling the drivers, uninstalling the drivers and driver sweeping them, reinstalling again, etc. Every time It would either do the disable act or it would go through a loop of connecting/disconnecting hardware which was quite annoying.

So for now I pulled the 2nd card out and its running back like normal with a single card..

So does anyone here have any experience with this and know why it wouldn't be a simple plug and play event? Install card, get power to it, crossfire bridge, boot?

Right you are. Tried with the 8.11's and its working like a charm, graphical glitches in Vantage and all lol. The 8.11's were ok drivers for sure though. I know the Vantage glitches disappeared on their own later on lol. I might see if I can upgrade to the 8.12's and then the 9.1's from here and see if it stays crossfired.

Either way I can definitely vouch that the performance increase is in few titles with 2 X2's and a C2Q.. But like I have heard with rumors about multi threaded optimizations in the 9.2's and such, maybe this combo can get a boost after all that wont require an i7 to run Quad Crossfire.
