9550 overclocking.. calling all pros!

Thread Starter
Just want some person to person help with the overclocking.. i can't read through jumble and get it all down pat.. i figured working the bus speed was a good place to start.. upped it 5 at a time up to 220 from 200 and got to 2.42ghz from 2.2 already.. in 5 minutes.. temps are 32c according to hwmonitor and 25c according to coretemp.. should i keep upping the bus speed?? or where do i go from here??? also, how often should i stress test?

Upping the HT is a good place to start. Finding the right combination of multiplier and bus speed is what you should do first to figure out roughly what the CPU is capable of. Set the v core as high as you are comfortable with and see how far you can get.

When testing I like to adjust in small increments, and then run a mini prime 95 test periodically. I will set it to run FFts between 8-24k for durations of 2 minutes. That test takes about 14 minutes to run and it is a good preliminary test if it can pass.

When you get as high as you can just brute force overclocking, then it is time for the minor tweaks. North bridge voltages, reference settings, ect.
