They are the complete opposite of Valve. Valve manage to produce games that border on movies with epic storylines, and gameplay that never gets dull, and manage to make games that look good without needing a rediculously powerful machine.

Yes, Crysis looks good, but that's not what makes a game.
what's with all the reverence for Valve? i've never understood it. i've played all the HL games, and sure they're fun, but what makes them so much better than any other game as far as gameplay? please, tell me.

Far from a x1800. It uses Stream processors. Think of it as a little cousin to the 2900.

Honestly I don't find the gameplay to be anything special in the HL games. I mean yeah, they're solid FPSs with decent mechanics and good physics and few glitches but I'd say they're far from amazing gameplay-wise. Don't worry, you're not the only one lol.

As for Crysis, after modifying the key mappings a bit to get it how I like it, I really enjoyed the gameplay alot better than most other games. The nano suit did it for me. I could play around for hours on end in that game just dinking around with the suit and finding interesting new ways to eliminate bogies . Now for me, INNOVATION (eg nano suit) is what makes the gameplay.

No actually they said Crysis series would be exclusive to the PC. Other IPs will be non-exclusive btw. They have said that non of the Crysis games will be coming out on consoles. But then again it is Cevat we are talking about.

They have even said that Cryengine 3 will be coming out very soon by 2011 or 2012. So expect Crysis 2 or 3 rendered in that

Agreed- But the only way to make crysis better in my opinion is to make it totally totally sandbox like FC2 When I first started playing Far Cry2 I started playing it after a LONG streak of just playing Crysis... and I found myself continually trying to turn on the cloak mode and strength mode while I was playing lol

The nano suit in crysis and how easy it is to switch between modes is just so much fun to me... In fact the nano suit has kept it my favorite pc game of all time (prepares to get flamed). But then again, I have never played half life or half life 2. I have been meaning to, but I just haven't yet.

To all those questioning why I love the Half Life series so much, for me, it's just the level design and the storyline that make it so incredible.

It's a hard thing to explain, but I have far more fun playing Half Life games than other games, is the upshot of it.

Crysis just wasn't that fun for me. Neither was Far Cry.

thank god, i seriously thought i was alone on this! lol

the nanosuit and weapon customization was it for me, plus the whole spec ops/military thing. half the game i could almost believe that i was taking part in a well-planned operation. Crytek must have had some retired Army generals or something helping with parts of the story.

like i said, i think it's a fun game and i'm awaiting episode 3, but there seems to be a huge cult following of Valve and the HL series that i just don't get. i'll probably get flamed for this, but it's just another shooter to me. a well-designed shooter, but still just that.

while i have been sticking up for Crytek, i share the opinion that Valve and the half-Life series are kings in their industry.

the games are epic, especially the first Half-Life. Steam is imo an unbeatable digital purchasing platform, and Valve support is also highly commended. the only thing i can hold against Valve, is their release date times. but hey, they even have their own timezone, Valve Time.

they have every just reason for having the cult following that they have at the moment, they earned every single ounce of respect.

sorry for the off topic.

but the way i see it is, Valve is for the people, Crytek is for Crytek. Valve tries as hard as possible to cater to fans, provide new and exciting updates and additions, and just generally unique gaming quality. Crytek just does what it wants as long as they consider themselves the smartest and best. they have poor support (linked to EA, come on) and only have 2 titles to their name that are worthy imo. i like the games, i dont like Crytek.
