[Fud]QX9770 and QX9650 to die in Q2 - Page 3

post #21 of 62
Didn't the Qx9770 suck at overclocking, considering it was their fastest chip? I always get the impression that a Qx9650 was better.

Huh.
Blackbox.

::gets bat::

yeah, i'm not super impressed either. It's a nice jump by normal standards, but Intel spoiled us big time with the Core 2 release.. I don't think we'll see such a performance increase with one release for some time.

and now, to use the emoticon i've never seen before:

Chuck an i7 in the ring with a nice 1080P and make it encode it. You will cry with envy. Seriously my mate's i7 920 is so much quicker than my Q9550.

QX9700 was a MONSTER! It's really an enthusiasts only CPU w/ that unlocked multiplier to reach easy/massive overclocks when using exotic cooling. I read an article once that they overclocked that thing to like 10GHz on LN2. When you bought an extreme series you know you were getting the cream of the whole freaking countries crop.

Technically the QX9700 beats the i7 Extreme in very single threaded apps. Such as some games. I alway wanted one, if they go down to like 300-400 ish I might buy one...
