Why only two thin strips of thermal paste on the CPU/heatsink?

Thread Starter
I applied my thermal paste before I did much reading, ran a thin coat over the whole CPU. slapped it together, temps were fine even with a pretty decent overclock. I forgot about it until I just took it apart. I noticed I had quite a bit of paste on there.

Why only two thin strips of paste in the tutorial here?

What are the benfits over a thin coat like I did?

you don't need a lot of thermal paste, just enough to barely cover the processor and get in the microscopic nooks and crannies. If you have too much it is just squiched out the sides and could run down the side and later on damage your mobo or cpu.

lol, actually if you take a look at the related product documentation pdf's (*attached*) and sift you way down towards page 4 or whatnot you'll see they only recommend using a single line of their product, only a couple grains of rice in length.

Less is definitely more in this case...
