It sits between the IHS and CPU
The IHS is still on top and TIM application will still be normal

Reread and realized I was wrong lol

Oh and congrats on 10.5k posts

Yeah it looks like a complicated mess... we are truly going to need a guide to get this one right. But i want to see actual temps. Not information on hot spots.

We won't have to worry about the TIM application since it'll be done before the IHS is put in place. Since the IHS is soldered on with the TEC and CPU die underneath, we wouldn't even get a chance to see the TEC or have the need to apply the TIM. However, that said, they're going to need to find some really good quality TIM, since we can't get to it to replace the TIM.

...but this dropped to 116.9c when the TEC was installed without power.
WHAT???

I just found the world's quickest conductor, apparently.

I like the idea personally. Intel can do things in the factory that we simply can't do with the chip at home. With a little innovation the stock cooler and embedded chip design could be adequate cooling, instead of a precarious POS that it is today for heat disipation. Not everybody overclocks true, but still innovation is innovation.

cool. the only problems i can find with this is the quality of the TIM they use (ie, not the stock crap they have on stock intel heatsinks), and what happens if the TEC fails.
