XFX GTX260 Black ed. - Screen of Death problem.

Thread Starter
Good day !

My brand new PC is just about a month and there is a problem. In all games (Warhammer Online, Left 4 Dead) after 3-4 hours of playing screen of death shows up.
All screen is yellow colour and system is dead I have to reboot manually. I don't even have ANY overclock yet! What do you think should I do?

Monitor the temps while gaming, make sure the heatsink is not blocked with any dust/debris.

I would suggest downloading and running OCCT
http://www.ocbase.com/perestroika_en/index.php?Download

Run the blend/mix test for a few hours to see if your system has stability problems

If this checks out then you're video card is probably defective. Something similar happened to another card of mine a while ago

How to run mix test? There is only options with GPU or CPU tests..

Temps while gaming is 65C when tons of players around screen of death appears.

The other poster was probably suggesting a medium or large data set in the test mode selection under CPU. He wanted you to check on general system stability, which is a good place to start. Just open OCCT, instead of 1hr choose custom, medium or large data set, normal priority is fine. Set it for 45 - 60 minutes and see if your computer remains stable. You could also do Prime95 "blend" for a while to check.

As far as your 65 degrees, that shouldn't be bumping you out... See what that stability test shows.

On the bright side, at least it hangs in there for 3-4 hours. Also there is a new driver available on nvidia.com, 181.26 or something. Uninstall 181.22 and put that baby in. There are a few forums that complain about the 181 series stability.

You could try to use a older driver. I had a problem like that. Not that bad mind you but still a problem. I still use the older drivers to this day because my games did not work right with the newer drivers. I don't know were you would get the older drivers but I have just kept all my driver builds in a folder. Hopes this helps.
