Having a hard time switching games?

Thread Starter
All I know is, steam has released some pretty good games. But, I just can't seem to find one I like more than CS:S still. COD:WAW is amazing, but I don't have the feeling that I'm in control like I do with CS.

I absolutely HATE TF2...can't see damage, just feel like I'm running around doing nothing.

I just bought Left 4 Dead and it definitely looks promising, but I don't have the desire to play the campaign yet.

Any of you guys have a fallback game you always end up playing? Mine is definitely CS:S...

Quake 4 online, WoW.

But CSS online gameplay is very solid far above CoD series, mainly because CSS was designed for PC and not shaky view and large crosshair like CoD 4,5 which were designed for console controller.

CSS is just one of those games that you turn on when you want to pop some headshots with AK, it's always fun.

A lot of this has to do with the maps as well. CoD 4 doesn't use arena shooter style maps,
it uses just a regular map from a game, which has eye candy but was not designed to facilitate
an adequate flow of combat, because it has a lot of dead ends and debris, which make it hard to walk. Crysis wars suffers the same problem, its' maps are abound with foliage, and ability of everyone to use stealth pretty much kills the gameplay since you can hide in the bushes all day long.

There's also UT3 if you can handle the poo - toned color scheme and crappy design of re - makes of old maps and sucky weapons. New maps are just for eye candy, not very playible. I gave up on UT franchise to be honest. Clearly it was taken in the new direction. The direction that I don't like.

I always used to fall back to cs 1.6, becaus source wasn't fun to me.
Its alot easier imo (radar & awp)

But now I bought cod4 and i'm pretty sure i'll fall back to this game alot from now on. It has everything i like, just that i get frustrated with spawnkilling.

Yeah most are taken out of the story.

But there's great maps wich require some good tactical teamwork in serious matches
Vacant, Shinatown, Pipeline..

Even crossfire & showdown aren't that bad for just a map taken out of the SP

I still like COD4 better than WAW and I've stuck to that. I still play CS:S a lot though.

eh whats so great about cs:s tbh
i mean its a pretty good game, but it doesnt come close to tf2 and cod4
its just too repetitive imo

btw, how you say you have a hard time switching games:

Thats how i feel about tf2 atm, i MUST play it every day or every 2 days

sorry about grammar: i am tired

I try to play something different each day (Steam has had enough sales that my library is abundant) but TF2 and COD4 are my standbys; they've been fun since the beginning.

Heh. My "fallback" game has been Warcraft III for about 8 years now. There are so many amazing games out there that I have missed out on because of WarIII. I was playing L4D quite a bit for like 3 weeks, but just like ANY other game I stopped playing it entirely and went back to WarIII.

i used to think that with CS1.6 i would come home from school, and get on and play for a few hours before doing my homework. TF2 requires you to play for a while before you start liking it. i had to play for a few weeks before i got the hang of it and starting to like it.

L4D is AMAZING. you need to do the campaigns first before playing versus mode or you'll have no idea what you're doing. also, if you want a challenge, play L4D campaign on Expert mode. every zombie hit does 20 damage to you and your teammates can kill you in 2 shots - much more like a real zombie survival game
