It's generally a good idea to do a little stress test after each oc adjustment.

By the way, have you considered Orthos? It's the same as Prime95, but with a GUI.

P95 more or less IS OCCT

They use the same code to stress test except for OCCT linpack, that is based off of (obviously) linpack

I preferr P95 because you can see when and what errors out. OCCT kinda dumbs things down

With OCCT, for CPU stressing do you run CPU: OCCT or CPU: Linpack?

Prime95 shows you more than OCCT? does Prime95 have graphs for vcore, temps etc? LOL

Well, as I said, Orthos is the same as Prime95. The only differences are that Orthos can only do 2 cores at a time for some reason, and it has a much different GUI. I prefer the GUI that Orthos has over Prime95.

And as for all stress testing with Orthos and Prime95, it should be done for many hours, such as 12 or even 24. I've seen others say that they had no problems after just 12 hours, but they let it continue anyway and then it failed at around the 16th hour. That, of course, means it's not stable. So, they adjusted the overclock a little bit and found that they could run the stress test a full 24 hours without any problems, and thus they declared it 100% stable for 24 hours.

But with the linpack in OCCT, I don't know how long that should be done for. I've never really used OCCT very much. There was something I didn't like about it, but I can't quite recall what it was.

Anyway, as for OCCT vs. Linpack, do both. Run the OCCT test for several hours as described above, and with Linpack, do whatever everyone else may recommend.

OCCT FTW!
Thats what Realtemp and CPUz is for

Can OCCT tell you which core failed? OCCT will halt all test if 1 thing fails. P95 will keep going until you tell it to stop, useful for testing individual cores

I run OCCT 2hr cpu test. Did it on my OC when I first set it up over a year ago. PC runs fine, no issues at all. I just dont see the need in running a stress test for 6-10 hours if i can accomplish the same thing in 2, OCCT finds errors in stability very quickly....

of coarse if you need it, you can always leave prime running over nite or when your away from your computer for a long period of time...
