running slower than it should... - Page 2

one thing that you might just check is to see if your OS is set in power save mode. my friend has windows vista 64bit and was getting 14k in 3dmark 06 then one day he ran it again and was only getting 7k. come to find out he had his OS set for power save mode which caused it to run slower than it should. just a suggestion...not sure if its your problem tho.

How about a GPU-Z screenie to make sure your card is running at X16.

The first two screen captures are from the AMD Overdrive utility, the second two are from GPU-z, and the last one is a cache and memory benchmark from Everest. Should I post specs/benchmarks/etc for anything else? Are there any diagnostic tools I should run?

I'm running 2x2gb of the same Crucial Ballistix PC2 6400 memory. I don't believe they are running up to par with oem specs (4-4-4-12), but I'm not sure how to check or change that. How do I check if Vista is in power saving mode?

With a bit of a voltage increase on the RAM, it may be able to run at a DDR2 1066 setting since your CPU bus is at the default 200MHz but you'll need the CAS5 timing settings listed in the CPU-Z SPD tab.

What power supply do you have? Maybe not enough power to the GPU (doubtful, but possible). Everything's plugged in, right?

I have a TT Purepower W0100RU 500W ATX 12V 2.0 psu. Everything is plugged in and working as far as I can tell. I'm not receiving any errors other than very slow task speeds and low rated benchmarks (for everything). I do receive a fan error message, but that is due to what I previously stated about the CPU fan (it's plugged into a chassis fan header). I'd like to take some screens of my bios settings, but I'm not sure how to do that.

The first three screens are from the Asus PC Probe tool (came with mobo cd), the fourth screen is from another Asus tool called AI Suite (also came with mobo cd), and the last screen is from CPUID's Hardware Monitor.

The CPUID 12v+ report is in error, no PC would run with a 12+v rail at 4v.

Oh, and do change the Asus util (if possible) to report in c vs f, we only use the c temps value.

BIOS screen shots, use a camera and post the pics through photobuck or whatever provider you like.

Do you have any "Service" that hogging the system which would cause poor benchmarks?

I have no idea about the CPUID report. I am not familiar with voltage ratings and am very new to all of this. I just checked it CPUID Hardware Monitor again and it's reading the same thing. If it's not too much trouble that would be great if you could check the other screens I posted and see if anything looks wrong with those.

Also if someone can explain the SiSoft warnings/notifications I posted before. I'm getting these ones as well -

Tip 2530: MPS 1.4 or later is recommended for MP systems. Check BIOS version.
Notice 224: SMBIOS/DMI information may be inaccurate.
Warning 2528: System monitor device implementation is known to vary.
Warning 2518: Mainboard temperature is too high.

New screens posted: PC Wizard 2008 (processor), Windows Task Manager (current processes), and the Asus AI Suite (celsius). Internet Explorer seems to be using an awful lot of resources for some reason (only 6 tabs open). Firefox has about 25+ open so that's more reasonable... I close those programs and everything else during benchmark tests as well, so I doubt it has much to do with that.

10k in vantage with a single 4850? get real ... hes score is fine IF he uses the drivers that came with the card ... with adequate drivers and a little cpu oc he should get ~7k ...
