This is a great cooler for the price. Add some 120mm fans, which can also be attained on the website, and you have a formidable CPU cooler!

Yes, it's a refurb, but what could be wrong with a CPU cooler?? Oh well, enjoy!

Does anybody have some personal insight on how well these work, their weight, and size factors?

Yep.

It's great if you need a low-profile cooler height wise. I've got on in with 2 ultra kaze's at half-speed and it' cools quite nicely. I've never seen temps go over 60c full load with a 1.42 vcore.

However it is bulky side to side, and if you have a mid-size tower on the small end, it may be a pain to fit. This thing will cool your cpu, ram, and then some. Also, unless you plan on running the case without a side panel or your sidepanel has a fan/mesh, it has a pretty odd airflow.

It's a good short cooler, but it's big.

Looks pretty good for an HTPC or similar space-limited application. The ability to add two 120mm fans is a good design feature. Tossing on a couple 120x12mm fans would barely add any height and it would probably still cool pretty well.

Also, heatsinks like this allows the fans to get some air moving near the components around the CPU.

For performance, I believe that it is a little better than the Big Typhoon from Thermaltake. For $23 shipped, that performance is great!

LOL at the refurb. There are no moving parts on this other than the working fluid within the heatpipes. I cannot see what could have possibly "broke" on a hunk of metal and hollow tubes.

I have one of these cooling my mom's X2 4000+ and her RAM. It is enormous, I mean two 120mm fans sit on top of it... thats quite big. I had to mount her memory in slots 3 and 4 because the heatpipes blocked slots 1 and 2 on her Biostar TForce 560 motherboard. It works very well though, keeps the X2 nice and cool as well as the D9GMH memory overclocked to 1120MHz. That's really the biggest benefit of this cooler over other ones, the fans will blow down and cool the memory as well.

If I remember right, you could only mount it one way and still have it fit in the case (have the longer end hang over the RAM). Any other orientation would require removing the video card or part of the case.

The fans were also a pain to mount, but I may have bought cheap fans that just don't work with it. I ended up zip tying them to the cooler because screws didn't line up. Not a big deal though, it's not like the fans need to make perfect contact to blow over the fins.

Overall I'd recommend to anyone with a 2-stick RAM solution. But I agree that with shipping this "deal" isn't that great.

Personally I think this thing is the biggest pain in the butt air cooler known to man lol.

I have it on the GF comp and it cools teh B3 Q6600 pretty well.

I couldnt recommend it if you change ram alot or like to reseat your cpu cooler alot as that is all a pain in the butt. The thing goes one way on your standard case.
