The difference is the vid. The e7*** chips are all the same architecture. The better chips (this is the same as lower VID) get laballed e7500. In other words a low VID e7400 is essentially the same thing as a high VID e7500.

Get ^^ For $160, the e7400 and e7500 will be the best binned chips, and the e7400 is cheaper the n the e7300 so go with what i linked above. Thankfully i got my e7200 before tehy even planned the e7300 so my chip is very good, and i didn't have to worry about them saving the best for a more expensive model.

The e8400 is only $15 and has free shipping. Other than that I would get the e7400, its cheaper than the e7300 and the e7500 probably isn't worth the extra $20.

You never know what kind of stepping you're going to get. There is no official difference between the different steppings.

E7400 seems good and then get a good after market cooler like the OCZ vendetta 2 or xigmatek S1283.

As for the mobos you were considering, the Gigabyte EP45-UD3P is the best choice. If you dont want to go crossfire, then get the UD3R. It has the same overclock abililties except for the extra pci-e slot and LAN features.

A P45 motherboard is a P45 motherobard, imo. As long as it's from a company with a decent RMA program, get the one that's cheapest. I've never seen any proof of additional overclockability out of different brands.

+1 for e7400. For mobo, get the UD3P for crossfire, or the UD3R for single card.
