For my own purposes, it is fine. I am not a gamer, and I play some games just for fun. Currently I play Steam Games (HL,CS with maximum video settings) with Crossover without any problem. I tried also some other games (ZX Online, PrisonTale for example, poor video settings) with VMWare, and they work fine too. Will try NFS to see if it works.

There are obviously some games, which require better video card and 3D settings, will not work in Ubuntu, but they are not in my interest .

Oh really? I did not know that. I will try it and report back here.

Yeah, I forgot to say about linux native games. There are a lot of them, they work fine, but unfortunately they are not very popular (if you play online).

Beside wine (crossover), you can try vmware as well. It works fine with some games (I tried steam but somehow it does not work).

Nope, still does not work. If you check out the image I attached, even I set the GPU to 700 and memory to 1250, the status bar still showed that it set 3D clocks to 576 and 999. Weird!

By the way, I am using Intrepid 8.10 64 bit.

This happens to me with my 9800GT, using a wide variety of drivers. Sometimes I can OC it, and sometimes it just refuses to listen. The old 8800GT was no problem. Changing to newer or older drivers doesn't help (177.xx or 180.xx). I have yet to figure out what's going on.
