well if your running a live linux disk (no software is installed so the problem of a faulty install is eliminated) and see if the freezing problem persists. if it doesnt than you have a software issue, if the problem does persist than you have a hardware defect.

Heres an ubuntu live disk download http://www.ubuntu.com/getubuntu/download
just burn the iso and run a live session for a while and see what results you get.

Generally, unless the CPU is a higher TDP than the board is able to handle (rated), the mosfets should be fine (but can be a big problem if they are pushed beyond their rated capacity... and they can actually melt) But the TDP of that 7750 BE is 95w, and most 780G boards are rated to support at least that.

Good idea on watching the clock though, that will help you pinpoint the problem.

And have you tried running in safe mode? Not just for the virus scans.. but to see if it does the same thing in safe mode. then you can figure out if it is something that is being loaded on startup that shouldn't be there, since safe mode loads only the essentials.

Good luck

EDIT:

Great idea Bose Einstein Condensate, +rep

my old asus board was the one i had in that pic was supposed to be rated 140w and it blew after an hour of running my 9950 BE 125w @ stock lol.also any form of cpu overclocking raises the TDP of the processor.

well i reset my overclocks. Maybe I set it too high :X. I originally upped it to 3.2 but I didnt like the CPU temp. So I dropped it to 2.9. where it stayed for a while.

haha, true, things can go bad even if they are rated for it, but generally you're safe. And overclocking does raise the TDP, but atm racerxgt isn't OC'd. But I know someone that had my board and pushed a 125w chip in it (its rated for 95w) and he melted a MOSFET right off, so it definitely is a good idea to keep an eye on them, and install a cooler on them if they are getting to hot.

oh my bad, wasnt aware amd had chips higher than 3ghz stock. i know the x2 6000 was a 125w - 140w cpu and wasnt compatible with 90% of all 95w boards.

almost 2 hours without freezing. But next time it happens I hope Im not AFK so I can see the clock. If it does it again i will use your method Bose and run that linx CD

Edit: another thing It might be. (this is off of 1 of my hunches) that its the HDD. It came open box deal. So if something was wrong with the HDD can it freeze my PC?

They do, but this isn't one of them, he just hasn't updated the system in his sig to reflect that.

I thought that he had stated he had gone back to stock earlier in the thread. Apparently I was mistaken. My bad.

So racerxgt, are you in safe mode, or are you watching for the next freeze before you do anything?

Im watching for the next freeze. And yes i reverted back to stock CPU clock after It did it the second time. I will go to safe mode after it freezes so I know what im looking for
