Power Supply mod.. need advice/help

ok i have a mad dog 525w modular psu. it is awsome and handles everything i throw at it no matter how hard. i have noticed when under heavy load it gets hot befor the fans actuly hit full speed. now my question is this, the speed adjustment system runs of a heat resistor, the hotter it gets the less resistance/the faster the fans get. if i take out the resistor and and simply hook the two leads togather they should run at full speed right? and would it hurt the psu to be ran like this other than it would be cooler with better airflow?

there may be a circuit that cuts power if fan has failed (which is what it will see without the resistor)

the resistor actuly hooks into the pcb, routes through a transistor and a small capacitor, do you think if i gould get the psu loaded up and wait till the fan speed changes mesure the resistance of the heat resistor then replace it with a regular one of that resistance it would fully spin the fans without tripping the circuit?

or if i use a pot resistor to make it adjustable?
