Sometimes newegg has some really amazing deals on Open Box 4850's. I've seen a sapphire as low as 102 + shipping before.

Right *now* theres an Asus for 109+shipping

If you can wait and save like 15 or 20 more just keep checking back for the open box deals.

4830 gets a better framerate than the 9800 GTX in some benchies, but from what I've seen on my 7750 rig, its video quality is teh poo compared to the 4850. It is extremely cheap and highly overclockable, though.

Thread Starter
Thanks for the suggestions.

That HD4850 for $110 looks like a deal. I probably could scrounge another $10-20 up from some where. Then again the 4830's overclockability seems nice.

So would you say:
9800GT<HD4830<HD4850<8800GTS 512

Or is this wrong?

I am so sick of people saying this! do you honestly think the faster card cant be overclocked either to replace the speed advantage? its a flawed statement so stop saying it.

Anyways the 8800GTS 512 is going to be very hard to find anywhere as the card is so old. If you can find a cheap 4850 on sale jump on it, at $110-120 it is probably worth it but no higher. If you cant find a 4850 on sale look for a 4830, they are sometimes on great sales, last week one was $69 AR for an example.

Spare a bit more and get a 9800GT

otherwise, get a 9600GT or GSO
