SSH + Firefox + Shockwave/Flash?

Thread Starter
Heya,

I've recently set up an SSH server at home to tunnel through.

It works great - using PuTTY to open a connection with a dynamic port 4545 forwarded, and I set my Socks host to 127.0.0.1:4545 on this browser.

However, I can't play any flash/shockwave games that connect you through the internet. (Example includes iSketch) The games LOAD, but they won't connect. Standalone flash games work fine.

Do I have to set something else up to route that traffic through the tunnel as well?

Have you gone to Firefox preferences, Advanced tab
Network Tab -> Connection section -> Settings... button

and configure your proxy there?

Yes, Socks host (by itself) is set to 127.0.0.1 port 4545 (the one I set on PuTTY). Socks V5, and all the other proxies are left blank.

This is a known bug in Flash Player. Try also setting the system proxy in System > Preferences > Proxy (or something like that) as a workaround.

Wouldn't that make the whole system run through the proxy?

Can't do that, need to use IE and other programs for work. Firefox for browsing.

Well, you get to complain to Adobe, then.
