You can find similar issues if you look for information on the game freezing or quitting suddenly when dual core support is enabled.
lol

You can replace Left 4 Dead with just about any other game in that search and you will come up with just as many results

Well launch sales must have been pretty damn poor then...

It sold 1.8 million at retail in a month and a half, not bad.

I NEVER buy things at first release. Inevitably, prices ALWAYS drop.

In this particular case, they made a substantial drop at an earlier time than it was due, and people like me recognized the deal and jumped on it.

However, if it had released closer to the $30 mark, I would have more likely picked it up upon release.

I'm going to have to be pretty excited about a game (or anything for that matter) to pay a full launch price on it. Patience always pays off....

You need some more buddies then. The game is a lot of fun with friends.

The production; disc, case, manual, shipping, doesn't cost much, maybe $1-2 per unit.

The development is crazy high expensive. I think only like 20% of games actually turn a profit. Valve may have better numbers since they don't release shovelware, but it still costs into the tens of millions to create a modern bestseller.

I wonder what percentage of their sales come over Steam versus retail, as that has to give Valve a significantly higher profit if the game is purchased digitally instead. No middle man and they charge the same price! That is part of the reason I prefer hard copies - if I'm paying the same price then I want a hard copy!
