The TRUE performed the best with a fan with decent static pressure.

And since when does it need a "jet engine fan", I run my San Ace's undervolted to 5v.

If I were to introduce a 35mm fan into the testing, it would need to be the same make and model as what the majority of users are running on their systems. What fan would that be?

If 25mm is more popular (which I believe it is), which fan is the most popular there?

25mm would probably be a Yate Loon, so you're good there. 38mm is either a Ultra Kaze or Panaflo. Ultra Kaze is probably the most popular just because of the wide spread availability and price (even though they're not great).

For the 38mm, how about comparing the coolers when each has a Panaflo U1C and a San Ace H1011 (or one of the newer ones at Newark.com if you can't get that one)?

How about not. Do you have any idea how long it takes to just test one cooler with one fan? Two hours. Multiply that by each fan and cooler you have on your wish list.

So... 32 hours of testing (2 hours x 2 coolers x 8 fans [2 different fan sets w/2 fans per cooler])? I would see that as a big turnoff, as well, but for the purposes of comparing the TRUE with the XTTH, it may well be worth it, unless you're saying you'd have to be awake for that long. Then I could see avoiding that.

I don't have to stare at the test system, but I do have to check it ever 20-30 minutes or so. I usually run these tests in the middle of the day, when I can keep the ambient room temperature between 17-18C.

Beleive me, the entire testing process is a huge turnoff. But it's nice to get compliments and feedback.

I second this - I tried doing my own little fan roundup before, and I couldn't even get 5 fans done in one day. Keeping ambient temperatures the same was a nightmare too.

If you're willing to check out 38mm fans, I second the Ultra Kaze and Panaflo units. I personally own an Ultra Kaze 2000 and Panaflo H1 (2500RPM), and with the Panaflo spinning at 2k RPM it's definitely quieter (or at least not as annoying).
