Damaged 4gb Flashdrive

Thread Starter
Hello OCN

I was just sitting here about to put the 2gb flashdrive I gave away into some packing material when I realized I have a spare 4gb flashdrive (Sandisk Cruzer) just laying in the drawer.

The story behind this one is that I had it in my backpack and forgot about it. After many weeks I find it when searching for my calculator. It was pretty beat up because the USB end was sticking out and it had got smashed down.

I reformed the USB end with 2 small flat-head screwdrivers but it still takes a little pressure to get it into a computer.

Now I don't know about you all but I'm cautious about just shoving it in there like that.

So I don't know if someone is willing to take it as is or fix it but I'm offering it.

First to reply gets it...post in the thread and if you are the first, then PM me your shipping address.

I'll take it. If all else fails I can always take it apart and figure something out.

Just get a USB cable that connects to a motherboard USB header, connect it to the motherboard, and use the 4Gb as a ReadyBoost drive and leave it inside the case.

I found ReadyBoost to do nothing for me. At least nothing noticeable. I heard by some people it shaves off a few seconds in boot time but nothing amazing.

I have a 4Gb USB drive set up internally. I have it formatted and bootable. I just put all my dos based files like AFUDOS for bios flashing my board and memtest (I've been looking for a bootable Prime95 test program to run in DOS... I found one but it BSODS my PC). Then I set the remainder for readyboost. Then when I need to, I just reboot and hit F8 to boot from the USB to get to DOS.
