I started listening with headphones (ATH-A700's) for the sake of quality, but decided to turn on the stereo (sony/walmart ). I think classic rock just isn't fun to listen to with cans? Especially not closed ones at least.

I don't usually listen to albums, nor ever "review" them, so this was a somewhat new experience for me. This album was released 15 years before I was born, and I didn't get into classic rock until a few years ago, so most of the albums I used to listen to had a few hits and then the rest of the tracks just seemed boring, like fillers or something to fill up the album. This was definitely not the case with Beautiful Loser. I thoroughly enjoyed every track, every song had something new to offer. My favorite tracks were the last three on the album: Nutbush City Limits, Sailing Nights, and Fine Memory.

This isn't the right thread to discuss that in.

Glad that you enjoyed it!

I will post my impressions once I get more time to really listen to Devin Townsend "Terria"

Ok, here's my incredibly-overdue impressions of the album I received during the exchange, Pinback - Autumn of the Seraphs, from newt111.

~~~
The first track, From Nothing to Nowhere, hits me with vocals that sound quite similar to those of the singer from Porcupine Tree, one of my favorite progressive-rock groups. As such, this musically appeals to me.
Barnes, has a groovy bass line and some mellowing in the instrumentals throughout the song, gives it nice pace. Vocals feel a little repetitive, but are catchy.
Good to Sea surprises with an electronic line during the song, reminds of something that I would hear from a group like Postal Service.
Walters is how Indie should sound, in my opinion. Very relaxed song, calm vocals, excellent instrumentals especially during the chorus. One of my fav's on the album.
Devil You Kniow offers a nice guitar line, carries the vocals throughout.
The beginning of Blue Harvest reminds me of Message in a Bottle, oddly enough . Good work with the guitar/drum synergy in this piece.
~~~

Overall, this is very decent album. Sound quality was good, mixing was well done. I wish all Indie appealed to me as much as this did, I will look for more tunes from Pinback in the future.

I never noticed that before, I think it's the drum bit--Stuart Copeland esque

anyone who hears this album..I gotta say, the bass player is a madman. he plays it like a guitar..watch some videos

better yet, if they come to your town, just go.

I saw them live, and it sold me. I was not bored the whole time, even having heard only a few songs before hand. just go

I'm afraid I only recently mailed out NFFs CD xD Sorry about taking so long, but had not a single moment of time til the other day :S

Anyway, Black Keys are a good band I already know, so I like the CD I got xD

They are one of the bands I used to listen to a few years back, and sorta drifted away from, so it was nice to hear them again, reminisce, and just enjoy some tunes

Love pretty much all music with guitar, so I'm not exactly the hardest to please in the music industry

Thanks for the great CD Mootsfox and hope you enjoy yours NFF!

:note: my black keys CD is in my car, so I've been listening to it quite frequently xD

posted initially in the wrong thread -.-'
