Is the 8500 only a better overclocker becasue it has a 10x multiplier?

The 9550 would be a great CPU for me if it was only cheaper. Currently puts me $100 over budget.

I must say that DUAL CORES ARE ONLY BETTER THAN QUADS AT GAMING IF THEY ARE CLOCKED HIGHER!

I had an E8600 @ 4.33 24/7 and it kicked ass in game.

He's right.

Q9*50 @ 4050 = E8*00 @ 4050 in games that don't utilize multi-cores.

Go with the quad. (I've had both, twice )

If there was a newer Quad for around the price of the 8400/8500, then I would be all over it, but since the cheapest is $280, its out of range.
