intel 4500MHD

Thread Starter
how decent is the intel Graphics Media Accelerator 4500MHD? I ask because i might have to go with it instead of a dedicated GPU in my laptop because adding on either an nvidia geforce 9200 or an ati 3450 adds another $100 to the laptop price. And already i'm like maxing out how much i can spend. I won't be using the laptop for gaming, but i do watch recorded HDTV and blu-rays.

Also, how is the quality when playing back blu-rays/h.264 stuff on the 4500mhd?

thanks guys!

The 4500MHD is does hardware decoding of AVC, VC-2, and MPEG-2. This means it is capable of BluRay playback. The 9200 and 3450 are definitely more powerful but the 4500MHD is adequate for your needs.

thanks duckie, I'm just really concerned though getting the intel IGP. my last laptop came with an ati x1300 mobile gpu and it's running vista ultimate very strong (my bro plays WOW @ 1680x1050 very smoothly, dont know as to the settings though) I'm gonna keep me eye out for good deals and see if i can squeeze in a dedicated gpu into the laptop if at all possible.

Me too.... NVIDIA and ATI cards are just better supported. Plus, you know you will end up gaming a bit on it.

However, $100 is a bit steep for those low-end card increase though.

yeah they are, hopefully by the time i'm buying the laptop (around graduation season) they'll have the "free upgrade" to it.

I also saw on engadget that the dell studio 15 will be getting a mobility hd 4570 on it. I so would opt for that if i could.
