It looks like you are looking to spend around what I spent, and have options for the future. Take a look at my System in my sig, now mind you I grabbed the vid card, 2 HDDS, Coolers and the ram used. But this mobo has crazy reviews, its cheap, and you can OC the hell out of it, and still slap a big quad core on it in a year like I plan on doing.

If you are building a gaming PC, I suggest a faster dual core over 4 cores with a lower core speed. I did a lot of research and looking at benchmarks, and if you want more FPS, and better 3DMark06 scores etc, you are better with a dual core and a higher core speed rather then a cheap quad at a 2.4gh IMO. And dual cores will OC a bit better as well. IMO of course.

Any c2d dual or quad chip is a huge upgrade form what you have. If you use it mainly for gaming, E8400, a soild P45 board (Gigabyte EP45 UDxx), CM690 and 2GB of nice DDR2 ram should fit in that budget.

I just got this case 2 days ago because I was sick of how small my Antec one was. But as long as everything fits, and you have good air flow, you should be ok. A "pretty" case wont help it perform better. But make sure you can clean up the wires etc, get the air flow going.

Im a budget man, I love doing stuff at the cheapest way possible, but still get top end results. I modded the hell out of my other small case but I just had to upgrade finally.

Thats the case I did get, only mine says CM-690, that one is RJ-690, either way they look identical. Good solid case, I payed 110$ taxes in at the store. Only thing I hate about it is the fact to get the 5.25 screen mesh bay covers out, you have to remove the front panel, which is a #&%$@ You need like 5 and a half hands to hold the tabs and pull. I finally got mine off and the sound it made and through me back I thought FOR SURE I broke something... Your mobo is ok for now, I mean grab a new cpu and get a mobo in 6 months or something.

That is the mobo I got as well though, seems good so far and has awesome reviews. Im sure it will stay on the market for a few more months, and only get cheaper.
