Q6600 Stock VS Q9650 Stock - Page 2

^^ read my mind..

a good EP45 UD3 will take that Q6600 to 3.4 - 3.6 and only cost about 130$

of corse you would need a good cpu cooler

Check your VID using Core temp (google it)
when the VID is lower than 1.3000 than this means you have decent overclocking potential. The lower the more potential, and evidence shows that.
I've noticed dells have the 1.3250 VID CPUs, but everyone one is different.

Oh, and just stick with the Q6600 - and if you want to overclock, get a new motherboard and cooler and you are set.

Even if the VID is 1.325 doesn't matter. With a decent cooler and mobo you could get 3.2-3.4 and if its good chip maybe more.

Maybe the Dell won't fit a different mobo than Dell's, so that would mean he'd need a new case and probably a new PSU as well... starting to get costy for him =(

You should find some number about Q9650 and Q6600 at stock from here. Q6600 is best for the money and Q9650 is for the 4.0 goal.
