Overclocking Roadblock X2 4200+

Thread Starter
So... I have a HP a1540n system. BIOS is very basic. With the use of F11 at startup I can access fan speed and voltage controls at best.

I want to overclock. I have tried several different programs... SetFSB, softFSB, CPUfsb etc. The latest was CrystalCPUID which can change the voltage settings and UNDERCLOCK but the multiplier won't go past 11x(stock).

Any more ideas?
Thanks
M.

Yes, most likely your X2 4200 isnt a black edition. therefore it has a locked multiplier and wont go over 11x.
All you can do is change the FSB.

I have installed CPUFSB again version 2.2.18 and I keep getting the error "CPUFSB has stopped working" when I try to load it. Same results in compatibility mode.

Is it possible the HP mobo is somehow locked out? The other FSB programs don't seem to work either.

Thanks

99% of all motherboards that come in prebuilt computers are not overclockable.

your only option would be to get a new motherboard.

I have a regular old 4200x2 CPU (non black edition) and it goes up to 15x.
