the 9800gtx+ with single 6pin isnt a reference design and only has single phase power regulation unless they split it on the card itself. Either way, this stops the user from sourcing the power from multiple rails on the PSU and therefore having a mroe stable flow of power, which leads me to believe that the 55nm+ would OC safer and farther than its predecessor.

I actually just received the bottom 9800GTX+. I found it weird for it to have 1xPCIe connector. So far it is fine, but I'm having a problem with power saving features. It could just be me

I haven't had any probs with power saving or had any probs with my 9800 gtx+. I have an old 939 board, but am waiting on upgrades. I should get a package from UPS monday. I did hear on several forums that using the included adaptor seems to solve the prob. I have been playing Crysis on high settings and getting good framerates without too many slowdowns. I'm using the latest drivers for vista 32 bit. I have also heard that some power supplies were not putting out a clean voltage using the pci-e 6 pin connectors. I have seen improvements in performance over the last 9800 gtx I had. The shrink in die size has improved my temps by a couple degrees, thats all. I had an older 9800 gtx with the 65 nm die size, but I still don't see why Nvidia would shrink the die with an outdated gpu. Of coarse the smaller size is cheaper to produce. I haven't overclocked my card yet but heard through several forums that overclocks are higher. Its been running great for over 2 weeks without a hiccup. I apoligize you guys and gals have been having probs, but hopefully whatever the probs are, it can be fixed.

I have a + with the single 6 pin connector that I got the shaders stable at 1989 Mhz.

You should have ZERO problems overclocking that beast
