Hi guys,

I have been thinking about which one to get for my rig but I am not sure if its a good idea to get two 4850x2 1gb for Quadfire or just get a single 4870x2 for $30 less. Please advise me..

I would get the 4870x2, it's plenty for virtually every game out there right now and down the road, if you wanted to, you could get another 4870x2.

That's true..I only have a 22" monitor anyway.. I just though maybe I will get a better performance with two 4850x2...

Hmm, I just noticed the 1680x1050 monitor. That could possibly be a bottleneck for a 4870x2. Maybe a 4850x2 with a 1920x1200 monitor?

Plus the PSU needed to support two 4850x2s over one 4870x2? I'm not sure exactly, but I feel like it'd be much more demanding... which would offer a whole new issue.

Either one works fine for your 22" LCD. I think that extra $30 is worthy. Get the 4870x2.

That is the part where I am a little confused because when I search online for reviews of 4870x2 the results they get with a 1680x1050 and 1920x1200 and higher are really close. That is why I though that getting a 4870x2 is not an overkill for me. Please correct me if I am wrong..

The $30 dollar extra will come from buying two 4850x2..
Or $30 dollars less if I get just a single 4870x2 and have room for upgrade in the future..

Between the two I'd pick the 4870x2 because you are less likely to run into driver and compatibility issues with 2 GPUs than with 4. However, I think both are a bit overkill for a 22" monitor.
