Extreme Budget card - For the non-Gamer.

Hello.

I'm putting together a rig for a family member, and looking for a cheap GPU. They don't game - at all.

I'd get the onboard video, but I'd like to give them my current mobo. Hence the dedicated GPU.

What do you guys think of this one? Mainly looking for low power consumption, and quiet operation.

Thank you all.

I have a Galaxy 8400GS,,, PCIe 256mb.

Its got a modded and OC'd BIOS, but I can put back to OEM if you want(free).

Reseated HSF with AS5

Fan runs silent even when 100%(its too small to make noise lol)

No need for a 6pin PCi-e connector

Looking for 26shipped(its only 2 weeks old)

want pics?

If they don't game at all you could spend less.
Hell, I used onboard for my mom's build, (Some S3 crap), and it works flawlessly.
You could always get something like this, with a fan...
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814130044
or this without a fan.
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814187040

EDIT: Just noticed this was in the ATI section.
Well, I bought this for a friend's build which they don't game either... works perfectly.

I think you need more rep to sell things here.

To the OP. That is a great card, but this is cheaper. http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16814187040

Thank you so much guys.

Kinzee, I like that 8400GS, but I'd rather just buy it new. Thanks anyways.

And don't worry about it being ATI/nVidia - I'm open to any suggestions. I may go with the 7200GS. I was looking at this one with Free Shipping.

But I have no experience with Galaxy products, hence the Sapphire I chose originally.

And it doesn't have to be from Newegg either. +Rep for everyone.
