It seems to be saying that my computer refused the connection, but when windows firewall came up I said 'unblock' both times....

The SMP client is very frustrating, GPU client setup was soooo much easier.
try turning UAC off.

UAC is off, I have full admin privileges and even tried "Run As Administrator". GPU2 client still connecting just fine.

I'm also trying the SMP client on my work machine and getting the exact same issues. My work computer is WinXP SP3 so it doesn't have the Vista issues.

EDIT: My work computer might be a firewall issue, but I'm confused why the GPU2 client gets through just fine. My home computer gives me the same message but I told Windows Firewall to unblock it.

Found this while looking for your error. Some one had the same problem and this is what was reccommended.

Quote:
Try the following:
0) If fah-smp is running, stop it.
1) In Start+AllPrograms+Accessories you'll probably find a black Icon called "Command Prompt" (though sometimes it's somewhere else nearby). Right-click on it and select "Run as Administrator"
2) If you have installed FAH inside of a directory called <your installation directory> then type cd <your installation directory>
3) Just to be sure you're in the right place, type type install.bat and you should see the contents of install.bat (which we'll be typing below).
4) Type smpd -install and let us know what response you get. It should look something like this:
C:fahsmp>smpd -install
Stopping MPICH2 Process Manager, Argonne National Lab.
MPICH2 Process Manager, Argonne National Lab stopped.
MPICH2 Process Manager, Argonne National Lab removed.
MPICH2 Process Manager, Argonne National Lab installed.

If you get a prompt from your firewall asking for permission to communicate, give it permission. (This may be your problem.)
5) Type mpiexec -register and don't type anything on the first line. Enter your password twice.
6) Type mpiexec -np 2 foo and you should get two messages.
7) Restart fah-smp and let us know what you see.

8) If you still cannot run fah-smp, try typing the following: ping localhost as well as ping <your hostname> where <your hostname> is the name of your computer. Both should succeed and the times should be very nearly identical.

When you're in the cmd window, you can right-click on the title bar and select Edit + Mark and then highlight what you want to copy to the clipboard. An "Enter" will remove the highlight after copying it. Then you can return to the forum and paste the text than using a screenshot.
Hope that helps.
