You build it, I buy it. ~ $500

Apparently I'm going to be able to upgrade once again.

After selling off a few things, I'll have about $500 to upgrade with. Here are the rules for the build.

MUST include the following into the budget:
What will be needed?
  • CPU
  • Motherboard

In other words, all of those 4 items need to be at around the $500 mark. Also, the more you can fit into the budget, the better.

Happy building.

Of course not!

That card isn't for me. It will still go into a build, just not this one. I'll be using my 9800GT for that monitor.

All you need is a CPU and a motherboard?
Or a whole system - monitor + GPU?

For a CPU and a motherboard, $500 is relatively easy.

For AMD you could do something like this...
Asus Crosshair Forumula II / Or go with a DDR3 mobo
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16813131292
Phenom II 940 BE
http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produc...82E16819103471

That would be great.

But the budget includes the monitor and GPU I listed above as well, leaving about $250 for the CPU and motherboard.
