CPU and Ram OC Question

Thread Starter
Ok guys, Yesterday i put together my PC, at first i linked ram to cpu, then i changed it. My cpu is e6600 2.4, i currently have it at 3.4, seems stable but i unlinked the ram (corsair 4gb 2x2 pc3 12800 1600) and set the timing manually at 9-9-9-24 cause that is what i saw on newegg. Question is, is it better to link cpu and ram or set manually? Since this is my first OC attempt i would like you opinions on what you think and how you did yours. Thanks!
MB is evga 790i sli ftw

Please fill in your total system specs.

And running the memory linked is better I think, but then again I never worked with an nVidia chipset to test it. If you don't know what your doing it's nice to be able to run the memory unlinked though.

Don't un-link the RAM until you have that CPU rock solid stable. Then you can work on getting your RAM up to the speeds you would like. Just one thing at a time is always the best way to go when overclocking.
