First HTPC for parents

Thread Starter
Hey all,
well im currently thinking about purchasing my parents a HTPC, they have done alot for me in the past 12months and really feel as though i should repay them somehow.

i dont want to spend loads but idealy it would need to play HD movies.
i currently have lots of HD movies and mpegs on my pc which i use as a media server. so i would be streaming/accessing from their via ethernet.

these are the sites i will be using
Novatech
Ebuyer

it needs to be quiet and also in a small case.

thanks

You can take a looking at my HTPC listed in my sig. A lot of people have built simmilar HTPC's. It plays back HD content no problems. I'm very happy with the Silverstone case except I replaced their fans with Silentx fans. When you have to move a lot of air quietly I don't think you can beat these fans.

I like the big drives! I use one of these to back upp all my media and still have 360gb left on it.

That should do it. I didn't compare price between the 2 stores.

Tom's Hardware recently had a good article about building HTPC's. You should check it out.

I used this same case for a build for my SO. It sits right next to her desk and it is really quiet.
