triple monitors?

post #1 of 7
Thread Starter
is there ANY way i can run 3 monitors on my setup.
i currently have my main 22', then i also have my comp hooked up to my 37" lcd for the movies.
now i know i cant just hook up 3 plugs in the back of my gtx 260.. seeing how it only has 2 inputs but is there any way i can run some kind of adapter going to my 2nd hookup and switch it when i want to watch a movie(only thing i was thinking about would be the resolution change)?like a y connector or something possibly? with mabey a switch of some sort on it?and run some kind of software?

because having a second monitor is REALLY nice having right next to you,and trying to use the tv for your basic needs of dual monitor support is kinda hard and defeating the purpose imo. but i deffinetly do not want to give up the connection to my 37"

thanks in advance for any help.

The GTX has three ports IIRC - Two DVI, and one S-Video. The card should come with a S-Video to HD adapter (RCA-type jacks).

22" -> DVI 1
Other monitor -> DVI 2
TV ->S-Video

Here is what I'm talking about. I've got one from my 4850 that I could sell you - It's HD, not HDMI, if you can use that...I haven't found a s-video to HDMI yet.

Yes, you should be able to drag windows thru all of the monitors - Provided you set it up correctly

just get some cheap VGA card for like 10€ and put the third monitor there..

im running my Quadscreen that way, 2 main monitors on my 8800GT and 2 extra monitors on my 7300GS which i bought from a friend for 10€

the setup is really simple aswell, jsut put the card in and there should appear 2 extra displays in the display properities in windows.. if not, just reinstall main GPU drivers again

also, it didint affect gaming performance or anything after i added 3rd and 4th screen along with the ancient VGA card

that would be the cheapest way to go. you can also buy a pci or pci e 16 video card dedicated for multiple outputs. maybe also extra f@h
