Quick testing of Gigabyte's MA790X-UD4 - Page 4

im thinking about this board, the GX version, waht are the major differences aside..the gX has built in graphics and this one doesn't? i mean, will there be different bios options? because if they're the same board, then this one has all i need because i dont need onboard graphics....

can this board unlock the 4th core on tri cores? or is it only 790GX boards are capable? because..afaik all 790 boards has sb 750 and thus, it comes with AOD/ ACC bios functions...

I get constant BIOS Checksum errors on this board. I've reflashed this with F1 and F2 from the CMOS utility and I still get the constant reboots/CMOS backups.

I originally thought it was a RAM chip issue & memtested each one individually, both passed. Then I started getting the BIOS errors.

This board's going back in the next 3-4 days if I can't get a fix.

That message generally means your BIOS chip is damaged. It's quite odd that you can't boot up, since you have dual BIOS chips. Nonetheless, it does look like you will need to RMA.

isnt there a precedure to have the other bios chip over ride the original? i'm to lazy to go threw the manual to find out lol
post #38 of 48
It automatically does it. But it'll keep locking up in Windows & rebooting randomly.

I've already RMA'd it and ordered an ASUS board instead.

You know, I'm actually not sure.

It should do it automatically upon detecting a faulty BIOS chip.. Unless maybe both are damaged?
