That means that all of that action is going to be few and far between. Chances are you'll get one group that will play 24/7 and basically cap the entire gameworld.
2. Latency issues. Its a FPS, so latency is very important, but its also an MMO so there will be lots of people from all over the world on, with pings likely over 200. That just won't work.
This answers your 1 and 2:
With most MMOs the player is forced to choose a named server (essentially one really big instance) when creating a character. One consequence of this is that it can be difficult (sometimes impossible) to play with your friends who created characters on different servers. From a status standpoint it also segments the population so you can never be best in the world, just best on your server.
We take a different approach because in Global Agenda we plan to have one single server per geographic market (i.e. North America, or Europe, etc.) but beyond that we do not artificially divide the player population by forcing players to choose server.
The geographical market part will make sure everybody has good latency, and the "everybody in this part of the world play together" part will make sure there's enough people to play with.
