Hello all,

I got farcry 2 yesterday, and even on all the lowest settings I still can not run farcry 2 without massive lag and shutters. I get about 10-15fps constant and freezes. I updated all drivers. ran virus scan, reg scan. spyware scan. and still no change. my system is:

AMD Athlon 64 x2 dual core 5200+ (runs at 2.71ghz)
2GB of ram
ATI Radeon HD 2600pro
runing windows XP x64

Any help will be appreciated thx.

games I run with no problems:
assasins creed
call of duty 4
The Lord of the Rings - Conquest
GRAW 2

Are your drivers up to date?

NVM I see that they are.

It is a tough game to run, man. My guess is your GPU can't quite cut it.

If Far Cry 2 is anything like STALKER Clear Sky forget about running it on high. I can't even run Clear Sky on high with a 3870 512MB without getting frames below 30 at times.

FarCry 2 is hard on my SLI 8800GT's and 4.3GHz E8400, much less a 2600pro, which is comparable to an 8600GT. It's the card. Can't keep up. And when you turn down the graphics settings and resolution, it puts more stress on the CPU, which is an AMD X2 @ 2.7GHz...not going to keep up with FarCry2. I've had both an Athlon X2 @ 2.8-3.0GHz and 8600GT, and I can tell you, it's just your hardware not being able to keep up.

You'll need a stronger video card to really run that game.

This 4830 will run the game much better, and is priced to be the deal of the century. I highly recommend it.

POWERCOLOR AX4830 512MD3-H Radeon HD 4830 512MB 256-bit GDDR3

Or if your looking for more power in a video card, newegg has ridiculously good deals for open box video cards, you can pick up a 4870 or a gtx260 for around 150 periodically when they have them in stock.

well cost is not the problem. if its the video card then I guess I have to get a new one thx for the infomation suprized mine cant run it though it is a 1gb card. I never did like radeon cards maybe I might get a NVIDIA GeForce GTX 285 1GB GDDR3 or is there a better one for the long run? just trying to figure out something to get where I dont need a new graffics card before a new game comes out were I have to buy a new one :-p
