But I am happy with 4.2GHz at 1.304v vcore. I know I can go higher, but I would rather run the safer vcore.
what is this vtt setting thats not cpu ppl right and as for 1.45v intels own specs shows abosolute maximum to be 1.45v so the chip is obviously capable of running that high.

Exactly Intel is very conservative with there voltage estimates, like someone stated earlier this is just Intel protecting themselves from people just like us that OC their chips

The VTT setting is "FSB Termination Voltage". As for the 1.45v vcore, ask Tricky about it. He was the first to fry his E8400 running it at 1.45v after only 2 weeks. Again, this is highly debatable since others have run theirs for much longer at that same voltage with no damage to their CPU. So it is at your own risk. I would just rather you have both sides of the info with this vcore issue.

ty eric youve been very helpful for right now im gonna leave it for stock give my head a rest and look into what others have run there qx9650 at i know almost for a fact though alot hitting 4.0ghz with this chip have used a high vcore to get that 4.0ghz ill look into it further might just leave it at 3.8ghz since i can do that easily without going over intels spec thing.

well i managed to get the multi of 10 and fsb of 400 stable at 1.416v after vdroop so i did manage to lower it down from 1.45v and keep it stable at 1.416v i could probably finick if it more but from ive read so far on review with the qx9650 alot of them had to put 1.45v to get a stable 4.0ghz and thats with a lower fsb and and bus speed.

yeah i know 1.3625v isnt gonna happen with this chip for a stable 4.0ghz i can get 3.8ghz easy but that even require 2 notches more voltage then the whole 1.3625v and from ive read on these forums theres alot of people that run 1.4v 24/7 i dont think 1.416v is bad at all yes in the first post 1.45v was abit pushing it but u cant seriously tell me there isnt people running a 45mm chip at 1.4v for daily use.

IMHO those figures are almost certainly conservative. engineering numbers ALWAYS are!(assuming the engineers are GOOD) They dont want to take the risk of RMA's due to non conservative figures. i've had e5200 at 4.1 vcore 24/7 but didn't run it long. it passed two days of prime and several passes of IBT. it really depends on you! what do you want? first make sure its stable as heck 48 hr testing then if it is and the temps are ok. why the hell not? you didn't buy extreme edition to be conservative right? I can vibe with you wanting 4.0ghz! it's just a number im working on for my q9550 and 3.985ghz just doesn't cut it!! lol

There is NOTHING conservative about extreme edition procs expensive as hell, overpriced imo but that's the attitude you got. and if I bought one i'd clock the hell out of it, provided stable.

ALSO !!! be sure to play with the REf voltages try .63 and .61! those are crucial for quad OC! i got mine at 1.33 VTT ref .61 4.0 ghz at vcore of 1.38. I needed to up my NB volts to 1.61! so you may need some massive NB volts to get stable at lower vcore. just a thought.

i will try this i havent even tried rasing my nb past 1.47v
