So there I was at gamestop today.. - Page 2

I get carded completely at random. I got carded at GameStop a couple weeks back for a Splinter Cell game. Sometimes I can buy alcohol at the liquor store or bar without ID, other times they don't believe it's me and start asking for my middle initial, DOB, etc. The first time that happened I had to ask the guy what he said again because I was caught so off-guard. I had an easier time getting in when I was 21 than now when I'm 23. I think it's because I had to start shaving, that must have taken a few years off me.

This happened to me when I was a senior in high school. I was 18 or 19 when I went to get a copy of CS:S and got carded. I immediately asked the cashier if she was serious. I provided my ID and went on my merry way. I was just taken back by the fact that I could buy alcohol nearly anywhere without getting carded. I was the person that bought all the alcohol for people senior year. I look old enough to buy alcohol and not a video game. I guess it's all a matter of how well the cashier follows procedures.

Edit: 21 yrs. old now.. lol

Sure, no big deal. I thought it was funny, but of all the things to get carded about. I mean come on, video games? I know it's a sore subject for some parents, but I'm 6'6.5 and 25. Like I said, that facial soap I bought last night must have worked wonders for my skin if he thought I was under 17.

In my opinion if you're going to card everyone, start with alcohol. I believe alcohol in the hands of minors can do way more damage than a rated M video game.

No big deal though, just caught me off guard and felt like sharing the moment!

I don't mind getting carded. I'm 20 years old, and I look as if I'm probably 16-17 years old. I think a large portion of it may be keeping a "clean-cut" look, or we're all simply eating too many preservatives!

I don't necessarily agree with game ratings, but if it's a policy, then it should be enforced. If the companies want to maintain any credibility when it comes to cases such as "little Johnny played GTA4 and then stabbed the boy down the street", then you need to be able to say that your policy was enforced. Don't get me wrong, I don't think that games will brainwash kids, but it may spark the opportunity for accidents.

I hear what you're saying but if I rarely get carded for alcohol I think it's a bit strange that I get carded for a 17+ game. Not that they shouldn't, I"m just saying I'm 25 here.

I've always looked 2-3 years younger than I really am... which is stupid because the acne should be a dead giveaway. It doesn't help at work because a couple of the managers treat me as if I really am 2-3 years younger. But I hardly ever get carded for any movies or games, sales clerks around here seem to have good intuition when determining age.

I was just shocked at being carded for a game. I guess it's because when I was 17 it was no big deal whatever game you purchased. I felt like I was buying a PLayboy or something.
