Question about core 2 duo bios features

Hello, I have an e8400 in a p5q pro mobo, and I opened up the bios and found a buynch of settings in CPU Config section:
---
Virtualization - Enabled
Intel SpeedStep Tech - Enabled
C1E Support - Enabled
Max CPUID - Disabled
Execute Disable Bit - Enabled
CPU TM Function - Enabled
---
What do each of these settings do, and for each setting should i enable or disable it?

You should disable all of those for overclocking.

Virtualization - Used for running virtual machines. ie running linux inside windows.
Intel SpeedStep Tech - Throttles CPU (disable)
C1E Support - Throttles CPU (disable)
Max CPUID - leave disabled, determines cpu max speed.
Execute Disable Bit - Prevents buffer-overflow attacks (meh)
CPU TM Function - I think this one monitors your temps and shuts down pc when they get too high. (either way)

I would disable speedstep and c1e as many ppl report oc problems when using it. Plus, I have not found a need for it. CPU TM Function should be OK enable or not. The only one I am not sure about is Execute Disable Bit. Hope this helps.

I was under the impression that you turn off virtualization because it sets aside cpu cycles for the virtual OS, that's why I said turn it off. I may be wrong though. Execute Disable bit has been known to cause instability though, that's why you get an option to turn it off.

Unless you want to run a virtual machine you don't need the virtualization. Yeah, I have execute disable bit disabled on my rig.
