How am I suppsoed to know I'm stable? - Page 2

Forgive me, as I dont know much about the PIIs, but is that voltage within tolerance? Ive had a CPU go bad on me once because the voltage was too high and I degraded the cpu. I could run stock, and just over stock, but it needed higher than stock volts to get to stock speeds. RIP P4 3.2

But really, have you made sure it's not something else in your system that's causing the instability?
No, I'm not sure. I'm assuming my RAM would be the only other thing that might cause this, how can I test it?

I would go with the suggestion stated above(orthos,prime95) to stress your cpu.Have you tested your ram? Memtest is a great tool for doing this.

EDIT:A little late was typing when you posted.

I'm good with 10 minutes of Prime or Orthos. Gaming doesn't stress as much as a stress test.

The blend test in Prime uses large chunks of memory. You can use it to test your RAM (and CPU because of the IMC). At default it only uses about half of your physical RAM, but you can modify it to use more; careful with this since your system will either crash because of low available memory or switch over to your page file (which can slow your system to a crawl).

Well Crysis uses 1.5gigs of my RAM, and my desktop uses about 2.25gigs, that's 3.75gig usage, I've never had any crashes due to that, so I don't think maxing out my RAM capacity again will show much of a difference, but I'm going to run the stress test for the CPU.

I downloaded Prime and it gave me Orthos.... so whatever, I tried it and it works but I only get 45% CPU usage with it. It's only using two cores, I checked the affinity and it says it has access to all four cores, its just not using two.

I've used it most of stress testing programs, Prime95, Orthos, IntelBurnTest etc. and my favorite is IntelBurn Test; no other software can heat up your CPU as fast as this one does.
