All my case fans just stopped working.

Thread Starter
Got 5 80mm fans in my case, 2 in front, one on the side, 2 on back, and I just all the sudden noticed a few minutes ago a lot of heat by my legs, felt my case and it's really hot, heard my gpu fan winding up faster, and started checking temps, and cpu and gpu up 10C each to 45C for GPU and 62C for cpu, opened case, and noticed all the fans are stopped. The leds on the side one are all dim too but the fronts are fine. I took my computer apart a few weeks ago, just wondering if maybe I plugged things in wrong? Or maybe my psu's dying(I just got the damn thing a year ago I think) Or maybe they just all happened to die at once? And here I thought I'd be able to put off getting a new computer for a few months thinking I fixed all my issues.

Unplug all your fans and retest them all one by one. Are they connected thru a 4 pin molex or otherwise?

I highly doubt all the fans died at the same time my guess would be the power supply. I would just check and make sure something didnt come loose. How about the CPU fan is that still working?

If it was a power supply failure bad enough to cause the fans to stop spinning, his 12V rail would be too low to keep the system running. It is not the PSU.

Are you hooked up through a fan controller? Are the fans all spliced into the motherboard somehow? This is really odd....

All molexes, plugged into cables that say fan only. I think the back one is definitely dead, plugged it in by itself, still didn't work, plugged in side by itself, came back on, but really slow. Can't figure out what's wrong with the front ones, they've been problems before anyway but usually that's just getting stuck and needing a little prod to get started again, but they won't start back up.

Cpu fan working fine.

Are the fans clean or real dirty? You might want to buy at least one fan and try it to see if she will be working properly.

Is there like 10 chain-smokers in your house? Because it could not be the PSU. In order for the fans to noticeably slower than normal, your 12V rail would have to be at 10V or less, which would cause system stability issues (and lots of crashes). Have you gotten any BSODs lately?

Ok, back definitely dead, side one working fine, changed one of the front ones with the side and the line the side and back were on must have died, because it sped right back up when I plugged the one that went to the front into it.
